Advancing Australia’s Negative Emissions
We take carbon from the air and transform it into renewable gases and fuels. We are on a journey to conquer the rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Through our pioneering world-first Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies, we aim to create negative emissions by capturing CO2 and permanently removing it by deep geological storage. We can also develop carbon neutral fuels including methane, methanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Based in Sydney, Australia, Southern Green Gas was established in 2018, emerging from a need to achieve negative emissions.
Managing Director and Founder of Southern Green Gas, Rohan Gillespie, identified a gap in energy processes and developed technology to cultivate the use of carbon in a positive light. Southern Green Gas is now managed by a team of Technical Founders and a Board of Directors with many years of experience leading energy and business endeavours.
Southern Green Gas has proven experience creating and leading renewable energy projects with national organisations. We were a finalist in XPRIZE Carbon Removal Milestone Award.
Rohan has 35 years experience in the resources and energy sector in Australia including senior roles with engineering and business development with BHP, corporate finance with the Commonwealth Bank and corporate development with start-ups Ceramic Fuel Cells and Renewable Energy Corp.
Since 2006, Rohan has been founder and managing director of Energy Infrastructure and Resources, a corporate advisor and incubator of start-up ventures. This has included ASX-listed companies Red Sky Energy and Regal Resources, as well as solar developer Soleir, gas-to-liquids developer Pacific GTL and mining investment group Resource Venture Fund.
Rohan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA from the University of Queensland.
Andrew has 35 years experience in the manufacturing and product development sector both globally and in Australia. As a Chief Engineer at General Motors he led the development of the world’s first fully virtual vehicle program – the Holden Monaro. The program was delivered in half the standard time and less than a quarter of the standard cost.
Since 2018, Andrew has been founder and CEO of plastic resource recovery start-up Cornerstone Earth. His start-up is developing a network of Artificial Intelligence powered plastic sorting and processing machines. Andrew is also consulting on a number of distributed product technologies in the energy sector.
Andrew has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
